Duncan Lawyers and Associates (DLA) was established in 2016 by brothers Dermot and Ian de Renzie Duncan who have over 45 years combined domestic and international legal experience in a range of markets and sectors.

Dermot Duncan

Dermot has worked in top tier law firms in Australia (Ashurts, Herbert Smith Freehills and WHL Ebsworth) and the UK. During 8 years in the UK working for CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP, Pinsent Masons & Bevan Brittan,  Dermot specialised in large infrastructure PPP/PFIs, renewable energy projects, waste to energy projects and carbon related projects. Dermot has also developed a private client practice assisting his renewable and carbon clients as well as other private clients in their wider general corporate and commercial needs.

Dermot is a published author in leading international/national journals on renewables & carbon and is the inaugural author of Lexis Nexis' Energy Law & Regulation.  He is also the chair of REC Agents Association (RAA). He holds a Masters of Environmental Law (focusing on financing renewable energy and carbon projects) from Sydney University, a Graduate Certificate of Energy Studies (University of Queensland) and is currently completing a Masters of Business Law at the College of Law.

Renzie Duncan

Renzie is an ex barrister and advises clients in private resolutions, local, district, federal and supreme court matters. Renzie has practised domestically and internationally and was responsible for setting up Ashurt’s Kazakhstan office in the early 90s and worked across various deals in Central Asia. He also worked in Paris for an international law firm as well as starting up the first English speaking on-line radio station in Paris in 2003. Renzie is currently completing a Masters of Corporate Law at UNSW.
