About Our Firm

Duncan Lawyers & Associates Pty Ltd (ABN: 93 613 789 216) (DLA) was established in 2016. DLA is a boutique law firm providing independent legal. commercial & strategic advice to our clients in the clean energy, carbon, mining & resource sectors as well as providing private client services. The principal of the firm is Dermot Duncan supported on a day-to-day basis by Ian de Renzie Duncan (Renzie): we are brothers. The firm’s origins date back to 1968 when our late father Ian Duncan (who passed away on 19 March 1973) founded & operated the firm Ian Duncan & Co from a Sydney CBD and Hornsby office. The Firm incorporates into its practice, the practice of the late Christopher Gordon Taylor. Christopher was our dad's first decent articled clerk and who gave Chris his start in law and worked with dad until dad's passing.
Dermot has been practising law since 1998 across the infrastructure, transport, construction, property, private practice, financing & financial market sectors with a speciality in the clean energy and carbon sectors. Renzie has been practicing law since 1991 across the infrastructure, liquor licensing, private practice sectors with a speciality in the resources sector.

We also provide general corporate and commercial legal services for a wide range of private clients including construction law, conveyancing, wills/probate, administration of estates, leasing and general commercial/financial work.
